Aamir Khan, donning his Dhoom 3 hat, held a special press conference to clarify on Dhoom 3 ticket prices on Thursday, December 19, 2013 in Mumbai.
There has been rumors doing the rounds that the Dhoom 3 ticket prices have been hiked. Yash Raj Films and Aamir Khan were surprised to find all this, and hence Aamir chose to clarify it for the audience. The ticket prices of Dhoom 3 are at par with other big releases, viz., Chennai Express or Krrish 3. The prices are in the range of Rs 50 to Rs 380 in single screens and multiplexes, depending on the show timing and theatre.
Dhoom 3 is also releasing in IMAX screens, which itself is an expensive format, and the prices of tickets in IMAX theatres is in the range of Rs 350 to Rs 900. There are only 4 IMAX theatres in India. A statement issued by Yash Raj Films stated that even the Hollywood films releases in IMAX, had tickets pricing in the same range.
“Dhoom 3 ticket process are not expensive. They are priced just like the other films that have released, and in general ticket prices also differ as per the show timings. It is also the first Hindi film to release in the IMAX format, and there are a total of 4 such screens in India, two of which are in Mumbai. Apart from these four screens, the tickets of Dhoom 3 are in the usual price range,” said Aamir Khan at the press conference.
When asked about the reason for such a false portrayal of ticket price hike, and also if Aamir Khan sees some mischief in this, he said, “I am also surprised where this has come from. We have clarified it before, but it keeps coming up. The source of this mischief is unknown to me.”
Dhoom 3 releases today, Friday, December 20, 2013, starring Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra in lead roles.
