MUMBAI: Day 3 of the on-going media and entertainment conclave FICCI Frames saw a suitable amount of action and drama, with Bollywood biggies Karan Johar and Kajol causing a flutter at the Hotel Renaissance in Powai.
As was expected, the third day of the conclave saw a host of interesting and spirited discussions and debates, centred around cinema. Right from 100 years of Indian Cinema, to the importance of Freedom of Speech in films, to the idea of a 1000 crore blockbuster; it was all about films at the FICCI Frames.
One of the sessions, titled ‘Planning a 1000 crore blockbuster’, saw Karan Johar in conversation with Siddharth Roy Kapur (UTV Motion Pictures CEO) and Ajay Bijli (PVR Ltd Chairman and MD). Interestingly, Kajol also joined in the session, and was seen discussing the issues of content, with the head honchos.
Reportedly, the session was aimed at setting a higher benchmark of 1000 crore, when films these days are all entering the coveted ‘100 crore club’.
Kajol was her usual candid self, when she remarked during a Q & A session with Karan Johar: “I don’t think there is any one (any actress) better than me; not right now. I think acting is something where you learn, relearn things, hone and refine your skills; I think the girls need time.”
Asked about her take on item numbers, and Kajol was quick to retort: “I think item or special songs are going on since quite some time in films; it has not come out suddenly. I don’t think there is anything wrong with it as it just adds it to a film.”
Also present on Day 3 of FICCI Frames: Ronnie Screwvala, actor Kamal Haasan, filmmaker Gautam Ghose, Kalpana Lajmi, Gurinder Chadha, Zoya Akhtar, Mira Nair, Mahesh Bhatt, Kiran Juneja, IPL CEO Sundar Raman, All India Football Federation Secretary General Kushal Das, World Sports Group Head South Asia Venu Nair and Bengali film actor Prosenjit Chatterjee.
