When he was asked about the ban, he said that this is not the platform to discuss the issue. He further states that he will give another interview to express his thoughts on the matter (ban on Pakistan artistes). Immediately, the Managing Director of Sony Pictures Entertainment, Vivek Krishnani, interrupted the reporters. Vivek said that the press meet has been called for ‘Inferno‘. It is an important question, but this is not the right time or platform to address the issue.
Bollywood is divided into two different groups on the ban of actors from Pakistan. Actors like Salman Khan, Om Puri who supported Pakistan actors, faced a backlash from the people. In fact, Om Puri faced a severe flak from people for his insulting remarks on the Indian soldiers. In a tv interview, Om said that who told those men to join Indian army and pick up the weapons!
The ban has been put after the recent Uri attacks, followed by Baramulla attacks by the Pakistani terrorists that cost the life of several Indian soldiers. In fact, films Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Raees, which has actors Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, respectively are facing trouble. The MNS party warned Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan to scrap off Fawad and Mahira’s role. If they don’t do so, their films will face a boycott in India.
