Soha Ali Khan has decided to give The IIFA Awards a miss as she wants to cast her vote. Soha Ali Khan, who is spreading awareness about voting, says if you don’t vote, you don’t have the right to complain.
As a part of the Hero MTV Rock The Vote Campaign, t-shirts with imagery and text that encourage people to vote were launched here at PUMA store and Soha was there to grace the occasion.
“It’s a wonderful initiative and I expect highest turnout this year. I think this is the time to make the difference. Today’s youth are much more aware of politics and are well educated. I believe we can have a great future as each and every vote counts,” Soha told while interacting with the media.
By doing so, Soha has set an example for others to follow as she has chosen to vote rather than attend the IIFA Awards. “If you don’t vote, you don’t have the right to complain. So, we as individuals should go ahead and vote,” stated Soha.
Soha believes India will have a good system in future. “I believe we can have a good system in the future. The reason we all are strongly supporting this cause is despite having seen scandals, corruption everything we want to go beyond that we hope for a change and we believe things will change gradually.” said Soha Ali Khan.
Soha said she is aware of the debate, “But I am here in Mumbai on April 24 2104, the voting day in Mumbai. I had got many other invites in the month of April. I also had got an invitation for IIFA, but I am not going anywhere because voting is my priority.”
Meanwhile, a host of film celebrities have been urging citizens to cast their vote. Hrithik Roshan, Anupam Kher, Shahid Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Sonakshi Sinha, Vidya Balan, Farhan Akhtar are due to attend the IIFA Awards.
