Ileana D’Cruz and Shahid Kapoor to share the screen again in Batti Gul Meter Chalu.
While Padmavati‘s delayed release is pinching our hearts, lead actor Shahid Kapoor has already moved on! Next, Shahid will be seen in Batti Gul Meter Chalu directed by Shree Narayan Singh. Reportedly, he will be sharing the silver screen with his Phata Poster Nikhla Hero lead actress Ileana D’Cruz.
Earlier, there were many speculations that Anushka Sharma or Katrina Kaif might star in the Shree Narayan Singh’s directed movie. Apparently, Katrina Kaif heard the story and she was very keen to collaborate with Shahid Kapoor in this project. But Shahid Kapoor took to his Twitter and clarified the false reports.
But now if reports are to be believed, Ileana D’Cruz has been finalized for the role. The Rustom actress will be playing the role of a lawyer opposite Shahid, who plays a lawyer as well.
Co-producer Prerna Arora of KriArj Entertainments told Mumbai Mirror, ”We have only spoken to Ileana so far. It is a strong role of a lawyer with intense scenes and we are casting now.”
Reportedly, Shraddha Kapoor might be considered to play Shahid Kapoor’s love interest in the movie.
As the name suggests, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, a social drama is said to revolve around the common man’s struggle to deal with electricity shortage and unfair bill generation. The content of the film is already relevant to our times.
The teaser of the film was unveiled on Diwali this year. Directed Shree Narayan Singh of Toilet Ek Prem Katha fame, the film is co-produced by KriArj Entertainments and T-Series. Batti Gul Meter Chalu is expected to release on August 31st, 2018.
