Legal Trouble? Arrest Warrant Issued Against Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi

Bollywood producers Dhanraj and Anil Jethani, who last co-produced film Murder Case, have reportedly filed a case against filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi. According to reports, the producers took the step after the cheques issued by Rajkumar Santoshi bounced. This happened years back in 2013.

Reportedly, the producers had met Santoshi for a project with a budget of nearly Rs 1.50 crore. For which, they were reportedly issued few cheques that bounced. The duo then sent a legal notice to the director, and after getting no response, Dhanraj and Anil Jethani filed a case.

As per media reports, an arrest warrant was issued against the director on January 17 under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 after a cheque of Rs 17,50,000 bounced. The Rajkot magistrate has granted him bail for a surety of Rs 25,000 in the case on March 4.

However, Santoshi claims that he hasn’t taken money from them. He is quoted by Mumbai Mirror saying, “My lawyers are replying to him (Anil) with a legal notice and we are going to challenge him in court. He will be the one paying for this.”

The director thinks that the producers are doing this in order to gain publicity on his name.
