MUMBAI: Amitabh Bachchan does his best every time the man is called upon to contribute to a social cause. And the Global Peace Concert held at Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai was no exception.
The Shehenshah of Indian cinema gave his 110% at the Global Peace Concert, enthralling his fans by singing live onstage. His inimitable baritone and vocal range had everyone cheering him on, as he serenaded the audience with a few beautiful songs. Clad in a black bandhgala and trousers, the 70 year-old superstar was the cynosure of all eyes at the charitable concert.
Accompanying Amitabh Bachchan that night was his son Abhishek, who kept his dad’s friends company sitting in the audience. Also dressed in a dark suit, Abhishek emulated his daddy dearest when it came to wardrobe styling. He sat by dancing star Govinda throughout the night, and was seen enjoying his Pa’s performance to the hilt.
The host for the evening was Boman Irani, who played the role of funnyman on stage, dressed in a sharp black tuxedo with a bow-tie. Other singers who performed onstage were sufi-rock maestro Kailash Kher, Sunidhi Chauhan, and the uber talented Sonu Niigaam. Aadesh Srivastava joined the Big B on stage during his encore act, while Kunal Kapoor sat in the audience and was seen cheering wildly when Mr. Bachchan took to the stage.
Also present in the audience were ‘Breathless’ singer Shankar Mahadevan and yesteryear actress Poonam Dhillon. Ayushmann Khurrana made a quick entry, and was seen on the red carpet with his wife. Sahara parivar chief and longtime family friend of the Bachchan family Subrata Roy presented Amitabh Bachchan an award as well.
