M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story Banned In Pakistan!

M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, being one of the most awaited films of 2016 will hit the screens this Friday. It seems that the film has become a prey between the rising tension between India and Pakistan over the recent Uri attacks. Pakistani distributors have decided against releasing this Dhoni biopic in their country which sounds like a payback to the MNS banning Pakistani artistes in India.

MNS threatened the Pakistani artistes Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan and others to leave the country within 48 hours and also have been protesting against their films ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ that stars Fawad Khan and ‘Raees’ that stars Mahira. The protest fueled up when MNS began protesting outside filmmaker Karan Johar’s office.

A tabloid reports that IMGC Global Entertainment, a Pakistan-based distribution company was supposed to release the film, but its chairman Ahmed Rashid says, “Amid current tension between the two countries, we have decided not to release the film.” Rashid adds Indian films do brisk business across the border and Pakistan is emerging as the third highest overseas market for Bollywood, say trade insiders. “But, this development (boycott of Dhoni) will affect the business,” adds the insider.

The biopic on Dhoni’s life starring Sushant Singh Rajput essaying the role of Captain Cool releases on September 30 and is said to have the widest release in India with having around 4500 screens.
