Makers Of Rooh Afza Get YJHD’s TV Release Restrained By Court

The Delhi High Court has restrained the makers of ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ (YJHD) from releasing the movie on television for allegedly using objectionable dialogues in context to the brand. The court’s order came after a lawsuit was filed by the manufacturer of syrup brand Rooh Afza.

Justice Manmohan Singh said, in an order made available on Monday (June 10, 2013), that the curb was not applicable to the theatre version of the film featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, which released in cinema halls on May 31, 2013.

The court also issued notices to the director, producer and dialogue writers of the film and forwarded the matter for hearing on July 16.

The court’s order came after an injunction suit was filed by Hamdard National Foundation, the manufacturer of the brand .

The manufacturer claimed that the product was a household name in the country and outside India and the film contained “objectionable” dialogues about the syrup’s ‘Unani’ recipe.
