MUMBAI: We are talking about pure unadulterated romance (literally) in Maneesh Sharma’s ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’. But the new song ‘Tere Mere Beech Mein’ promises to give audiences more that just unadulterated stuff.
The song featuring Parineeti Chopra and Sushant Singh Rajput has a feel of freshness to it, some masti-mazak and some soft sizzle. Like Ranbir Kapoor in ‘Saawariya’ we get to see Parineeti Chopra wrapped in a towel, trying to woo Sushant Singh Rajput, which itself is enough to set eyeballs rolling.
Sung by Mohit Chauhan and Sunidhi Chauhan, ‘Tere Mere Beech Mein’ is soulful and melodious. With ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’, music directors Sachin-Jigar make their entry into the Yash Raj camp. Maneesh’s earlier films had Salim-Sulaiman composing the music.
The visuals though give us a feel and take us back to the AR Rahman classic ‘Aye Udi Udi’ from Shaad Ali’s ‘Saathiya’. The only difference, ‘Tere Mere Beech Mein’ is a duet with the golden voices of two accomplished singers, while ‘Aye Udi Udi’ had the magical Adnan Sami’s voice.
‘Tere Mere Beech Mein’ is a good way to start promoting ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’. It keeps us hopeful that like Maneesh Sharma’s earlier films, even ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ will boast of a few chartbuster numbers.
