On many occasions it has come to light that the casting couch phenomena exists in the Bollywood industry. Although the topic has not been widely talked about; actors like Ranveer Singh, Kalki Koechlin and even the brashly outspoken Kangana Ranaut have come ahead with their own experiences. Adding to this list is actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who spoke to a leading daily about his own experience with the casting couch.
In the interview, when Ayushmann was asked about the existence of casting couch, he said, “In fact, I have been through that. Initially when I was part of the industry I was a TV anchor, so a casting director directly told me that I would have to do it.” Khurrana continues, “So, I told him that if I was not straight, I might have given it a thought, but I can’t do it.” He quips that although the casting couch exists, eventually, it’s your talent or potential as an actor or performer that decides how successful you are.
