Ayushmann Khurrana In Meri Pyaari Bindu seems to be targeting the writer Chetan Bhagat with this dialogue.
Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra starrer Meri Pyaari Bindu was released last week on Friday, May 12. In the film, Ayushmann plays Abhimanyu Roy, a Kolkata boy who spends most of his life dancing to the tune of his neighbour Bindu, played by Parineeti.
The story is told from Abhi’s point of view and he narrates it mostly as he types up a story. Abhi is a writer and author of very popular horror adult books. The story goes all fine, until we notice a scene in the film.

In this scene, Abhi is talking to the owner of a publishing house. In the conversation, the writer is asked by the publisher as to why he only writes horror stories and not romantic ones. To which Abhi replies by saying, “These days, anyone and everyone has got into writing a book. Be it a banker or anyone else, everyone is busy writing a romantic novel.”
A banker turned writer! Doesn’t it sound familiar to someone really famous in the industry? Yes, you guessed it right. It is one of the famous Indian authors, Chetan Bhagat. So, is the film trying to take a dig at him?
Well, we do not know if this was intentional or unintentional of the makers, but it surely hits a chord when this dialogue is heard.
Meri Pyaari Bindu is refreshing in parts and meandering at others, making this just about a serviceable Rom-Com which is higher on romance than comedy. But Ayushmann’s sense of humour in the film is good to watch.
