MUMBAI: Bollywood stars Malaika Arora Khan, her producer-director husband Arbaaz Khan and the ‘I, Me, Aur Main’ actress Chitrangda Singh are all set to pledge their support to ‘Soldier for Women’.
At an event organized on Women’s Day by shaving blade manufacturer Gillette, whose initiative ‘Soldier for Women’ is gaining momentum, Arbaaz, Malaika, Chitrangda, Rahul Bose, Mandira Bedi and Vidyut Jamwal took the pledge to soldier on for women and stand up for their rights.
The men at the event: Bollywood stars like Arbaaz, Vidyut and Rahul focused on the need for men to stand up and show courage and integrity, to protect women. Said Rahul Bose, himself a champion of women’s rights: “A woman doesn’t need a man to stand in front of her as a shield. Her man has to stand beside her like a rock. The qualities to respect women must be inculcated at childhood itself. If a child sees his mother walking two steps behind his father, then he would think that this is how the world is.”
Arbaaz Khan appealed to all the men to stand up and show courage, integrity, chivalry and discipline in their quest to protect women, when he said: “There is a strong need to battle this fear and motivate people to help someone who are in need of help.” Arbaaz also added that men shouldn’t be afraid of getting embroiled in legal hassles when it comes to protecting and helping women in distress.
Malaika, Chitrangda and Mandira too spoke about the need of the hour being men standing up for their women.
