MUMBAI: Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra, who is now an international name, is doing it all to bag the gold medal! She is taking hands-on training for her role in the biopic of Mary Kom.
The makers of the film are going out of their way to make the biopic look as realistic as they can. They are roping in professional boxing coaches to train the actress to deliver some hard core punches.
The producers have shortlisted trainers who have worked one some of the best boxing films like Hollywood super hits ‘Rocky’ and ‘Million Dollar Baby’. Rumours also suggest that the team is considering someone who has trained national boxing champions.
Priyanka is said to be currently receiving training from Sameer Johal, who trained Farhan Akhtar for ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ a biopic on the ‘Flying Sikh’ Milkha Singh. The sports action director of ‘Chak De!’, Rob Miller is also part of this ambitious project.
A source said, “Boxing requires high levels of stamina, so Sameer seemed an apt choice. Rob’s expertise in sports direction will contribute immensely.”
