MUMBAI: What more could a man ask for on his birthday, than his wife dedicating a specially composed song to him? More so, if the man in question is Indian cinema’s very own superstar Rajinikanth and the wife is Latha Rajinikanth?
Rajinikanth has turned 63 today, and to bring in his birthday his philanthropist, film producer, playback singer wife Latha gave him something special – a tribute song, which is a cheerful track called ‘Superstar Rajini Song’.
The song has been composed and performed by L Music Band. Directed by Raghava Lawrence, the music has been composed by Vijay Anthony. The voice of music director and Malaysian singer Emcee Jazz features in the song.
But Rajinikanth’s birthday is not his to celebrate alone. Around the country, his fans have organized blood donation camps, poojas at temples, charity events to garner financial aid for the needy and even special lunches at old-age homes.
Bengaluru born Rajinikanth initially forayed into Kannada plays. But he made his acting debut in 1975 in a Tamil film titled ‘Apoorva Raagangal’, directed by K. Balachander.
In the years ahead, his popularity grew essaying both negative and positive roles. He went on to become the superstar of Tamil, Telugu and Kannada cinema and eventually of Indian cinema. He even has idol status amongst his fans in the country. His unique mannerisms, one-liners and out-of-the-world cinema antics have enthralled audiences across the globe.
The actor has worked in almost 150 films over the years, including Bollywood hits like Sivaji. He is all set to appear in ‘Kochadaiyaan’, which will also feature Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone.
