Rajkumar Rao; The Unsung Hero Of Queen

kangana ranaut-13Either Rajkumar Rao lives in denial that he is one of the best looking and immensely talented actor we have in Bollywood today or he knows it and he loves to pretend.

Well, that’s what Rajkumar Rao is all about, because one hardly sees him talk about his work or interacting with media or making headlines. Now, according to me he needs to be equally credited for the success of Queen because if not for Vijay Dhingra, Rani would not have been Rani.

In the film, Rajkumar Rao essays the character of Vijay Dhingra, Rani’s (Kangana Ranaut) love interest, who would go out of his way to impress his lady love but then leaves her on the eve of their wedding.

Rajkumar Rao started his career in 2010 with Love Sex Aur Dhokha and then went on to do films like Ragini MMS, Shaitan, Gangs Of Wasseypur – Part 2, Kai Po Che and many more. What got Rajkumar Rao the much needed recognition was Hansal Mehta’s Shahid.

Rajkumar Rao has once again teamed up with director Hansal Mehta for City Lights that is expected to hit the silver screen on May 01, 2014.

City Lights is based on the life of a farmer in Rajasthan who comes to the city of Mumbai with his wife and daughter in hope of a better life. The challenges they face, their encounter with a big city and how they rise to meet those challenges nurtured by the power of their love moves the story forward. Rajkumar Rao is paired opposite actress Patralekha who will be making her debut with this film.

City Lights is an official adaptation of Metro Manila, Britain’s entry to the Oscars this year.

Metro Manila received critical acclaim and won awards at British Independent Film Awards, Amazonas Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Hamburg Film Festival apart from being the British entry for Best Foreign Language Film at The 86th Academy Awards.

Later this year, Rajkumar Rao will also be seen in Arbaaz Khan’s Dolly Ki Doli opposite Sonam Kapoor.
