MUMBAI: Director Anurag Basu has taken on ambitious project to depict the life of Kishore Kumar on the big screen. Who would play the lead role was a question that was in the news for quite some time and Ranbir Kapoor’s was the foremost name.
Now, the movie is in scripting stage and we hear that Ranbir Kapoor has been officially signed on for the project.
“The film’s script is being written. Anurag wants this project to be as close to reality as possible. Kishore Kumar was a legend, so there are a lot of details that need to be taken into consideration when writing the script,” a source close to the director has revealed.
If Anurag decides to focus on the legendary actor-singer Kishore Kumar’s entire life, then Ranbir Kapoor will be paired with four heroines to depict the four women in Kishore Kumar’s life.
His first wife, Ruma Ghosh, his second wife and co-star Madhubala, his third wife, actor Yogeeta Bali, with whom he had a very short marriage and finally his fourth wife Leena Chandavarkar. Which four heroines will essay these roles is yet to be decided upon.
“The heroines will be selected depending on which portions of the singer-actor’s life Anurag chooses to cover. If the film is made about the singer’s entire life, then there will be four stories as Kishore Kumar had four wives. It’s these factors that are taking up a lot of time. The director can’t afford to miss out on any of these details,” the source has explained.
This will be the first time for Ranbir to be paired with 4 female co-stars. Previously he has worked with 2 heroines in ‘Barfi!’ (2012) and 3 heroines in ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ (2008)
The movie has a working title ‘Kishore’ and will go on floors only late next year or early 2014.
