MUMBAI: For those wanting to see a sequel to 1994’s ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ with Salman Khan and Aamir Khan reuniting on screen, here’s some sad news.
Rajkumar Santoshi, the director of the cult comedy, is finding it difficult to gather joint dates for both the superstars. Because of this he just might go ahead with two present-day young stars in Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor.
As Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’ gets ready for release, the director wants to start on the sequel to ‘Andaz Apna Apna’. But if he doesn’t land the two Khans, he might go ahead with a modern-day storyline and a younger cast. While Shahid Kapoor stars in ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’, Ranbir Kapoor has worked with the director in his previous film ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’.
It is not known yet whether Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor would play the characters of Amar-Prem immortalised by Aamir Khan and Salman Khan in the original, or completely new characters.
Rajkumar Santoshi says, “It’s very early for me to take the call on the actors. I am still in the process of putting together the script, so wouldn’t like to comment on the casting of ‘Andaz Apna Apna 2’.”
All fans of the original will surely hope to see the Khans back. But if it doesn’t happen, we sure wouldn’t mind the Kapoors taking over. Now will we see Ileana D’cruz (working on ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’) and Katrina Kaif (who worked on ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’) as the heroines, in place of Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor, if the Kapoors are cast in the ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ sequel? Let’s wait and watch!
