MUMBAI: Willynilly, Ranveer Singh has ended a cold war between the two bollywood filmmakers Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Aditya Chopra. The differences had cropped up when Yashraj Films chose to call their Shahid Kapoor-Rani Mukerji rom-com ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ when the title ‘Hadippa’ was registered for Sanjay Bhanasli’s sister Bela’s film.
It was felt by Bhansali’s production house that Rani Mukerji who was close to both the production houses had perhaps suggested to Yashraj Films the title that was shared with her by the Bhansalis in good faith.
Thereafter things soured between the Bhansalis and Chopras, Rani included.
Ironically it isn’t Rani who has brought about a reconciliation between the two very private filmmakers. It’s Yashraj Films’s current blue-eyed boy Ranveer Singh who managed to wash away the uneasiness that existed between SLB and Adi.
The matter of the uneasy rapport between SLB and Adi came up when Ranveer’s dates for Bhansali’s ‘Ram Leela’ overlapped with his dates for Yashraj Films’ untitled venture to be directed by the hermetic Shaad Ali.
Says a source, “Ranveer and Shaad are very close friends for years, from the time Shaad made ‘Saathiya’ for Yashraj and Ranveer hung around as a struggler trying to get Adi’s attention. They had a pact that Ranveer’s second film would be directed by Shaad. That didn’t happen, as Shaad’s script was not ready. Now Shaad is all set to start his next film after a gap of 5 years. Every one at Yashraj is happy to see him return specially since he is so eager to start. Ranveer did not want to be the cause of any delay for Shaad’s film. Since he was meant to be shooting for ‘Ram Leela’ at around the same time as Shaad’s film in December-January Ranveer personally spoke to SLB who was more than willing to be accommodating.”
Apparently Ranveer’s back-and-forth movement between Sanjay Bhansali and Adi Chopra worked to dispel the discomfort between the two parties. The two filmmakers discovered much common ground and have decided to forget the past.
Says an actor very close to the Yashraj production house, “In fact Adi is a huge admirer of Bhansali’s work. Ranveer conveyed Adi’s warm vibes to Bhansali. The two filmmakers not only worked Ranveer’s date issues out, they also sorted out whatever problems existed between them.”
We hear Ranveer is now planning a private dinner at his home for his two favourite directors. And both Sanjay and Adi are willing to get uncharacteristically sociable to celebrate their reconciliation.
