“Every director has his own degree of how deep he goes into a script. I was quite surprised to know that Rekha is matching me step by step for that.” stated the director.
In the film, Rekha will be seen as a Begum (Queen). “Rekha responded very well to the material. She understood the kind of film I am trying to make and the story I’m trying to tell. More than anything else, we discussed the character and she got into the depth of the story,” stated Abhishek Kapoor.
“I constantly strive to blend challenging themes and engaging narratives. Fitoor has a vision and a soul, and now we are giving it a form and a voice.” continued Abhishek.
Rekha’s character, a role inspired by Charles Dickens iconic character Mrs. Havisham, will be the catalyst that spins the romance tale forward. The love saga has been scripted across decades and continents.
Fitoor is a love story that features Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles, and is the cinematic vision for the Charles Dickens Classic, Great Expectations.
Fitoor depicts the relationship between three characters: a young Kashmiri boy named Noor (Aditya Roy Kapur); his muse Firdaus (Katrina Kaif) and the mercurial Begum (Rekha). Fitoor is being shot at various locations in north India, including Kashmir and Delhi, as well as an international destination.
