Bollywood actor Salman Khan is currently going through 2002 hit and run case since 13 years now when his car had met with accident in suburban Bandra on September 28, 2002, killing one person and injuring four.
The case was suppose to end on May 6 where session court found him guilty and sentenced him for five years jail, convicted under all charges. Two days later, sentence was suspended on May 8th and bail was granted in cash of Rs 30,000 in lieu of surety as a temporary measure.
Now with the ongoing arguments in the case, Salman’s lawyer argued that the night of the accident the victim died not because of the actor’s car running over the victim, but it was because of crane that came down crashing the car.
Justice A R Joshi heard the argument from Salman Khan’s lawyer Amit Desai. Desai in the defence said that the prosecution has not been able to prove that the death was due to the accident. The post-mortem of the deceased shows that he had crush injuries on his upper body as if something had fallen on him from above. The possibility that the death was caused due to the car falling from the hook of the crane cannot be excluded.
He also argued saying that during the accident the victim was crying, showing that the victim was still alive. He also put his point that the blood stains should have been there on the bed and the pillow of the deceased from injuries after the accident, but stains were not found.
