MUMBAI: It’s a time of mixed feelings for Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan. While he and his fans excitedly await the release of his ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ this Diwali, there are many controversies going at varied levels for the actor.

Even as the ‘screening space’ tussle between Ajay Degn Fflims and Yash Raj Films continues, SRK is in a fresh legal dilemma in the position of a Producer of his ‘Red Chillies Entertainment’.

As we had recently reported, SRK’s latest home production ‘Student of the Year’ directed by Karan Johar, had stirred up a legal controversy regarding the use of an “objectionable” term against the Hindu deity in the the ‘sexy’ song ‘Radha’.

A while ago, the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Santosh Prasad Shukla issued an order to register a case against producers Shah Rukh Khan and wife Gauri Khan, filmmaker Karan Johar, singer Shreya Ghoshal, music directors Vishal Shekhar, singer Udit Narayan, lyricist Anvita Dutta and Sony Music Company.

On behalf of the petitioners, Counsel Vikram Dubey had explained, “The film featured a song that uses ‘sexy’ to describe Radha! This has caused hurt to religious sentiments of the Hindu community. The petitioners have appealed to the court that the word should be dropped from the song and appropriate action taken against the respondents.”

Now, November 5, advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha once again brought up the issue against SOTY, in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate SP Singh.

November 9, an FIR has been lodged in Muzaffarpur, Bihar at the Sadar police station under sections 294 (Obscene acts and songs to annoyance of others), 295 (deliberate and malicious act intended to hurt religious feelings and 295A (injuring or defiling place of worship intended to insult the religion) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against SRK and party.

Interestingly, the film’s actors: Bollywood newbies Alia Bhat, Varun Dhawan, and Siddharth Malhotra have also been accused.

Sadar Police Inspector, Ejaz Ahmed will be further probing the case, based on which the local court will make its decision.
