[tps_footer]Comedian Kiku Sharda, who is popularly known for his role of ‘Palak’ in Comedy Nights With Kapil, has been reportedly arrested for hurting religious sentiments of self-claimed Godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
According to reports, Ram Rahim Singh’s followers filed a case against Kiku Sharda after he mimicked Singh in the most popular comedy show, ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’, which was aired on December 27.
The show has done mimicry of many, but this one went way too serious and caused a trouble for Kiku Sharda. The case was filed against Kiku on January 1, but the actor was arrested on Wednesday after he came home from late night shoots.
He was taken to Aarey Police Station, Mumbai and from there he was taken to Delhi and reportedly from there he will be taken to Haryana for further investigations. It is said that Kiku Sharda apologized for mimicking after Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s followers protested against him. In his apology, Kiku also mentioned that it was a coincident and that he didn’t intend to mimic on Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. But his apology didn’t make any difference; they went ahead to file a case against him.
Making it clear on the incident, Kiku Sharda aka Palak, told Hindustan Times, “I have a lot of respect for Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singhji. The look [on the show] wasn’t deliberate; it just happened to match [Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s look]. We didn’t plan it as a spoof on him. It’s a coincidence, and it is unfortunate. I am sorry that people felt hurt. We never try to do any such thing intentionally, or try to get headlines out of it, or want people to talk about our show in this manner. There is nothing more to it.”[/tps_footer]
