MUMBAI: Sonakshi Sinha is heaving a sigh of relief, saying ‘Thank God It’s Friday’! On a balmy Friday evening, we spotted the full-figured Sinha lass, at the launch of the song ‘Thank God It’s Friday’ from Ajay Devgn’s ‘Himmatwala’.
The daughter of Shatrughan Sinha, Sonakshi Sinha was roped in by director Sajid Khan to perform an item song in the remake of the 1983 cult classic film ‘Himmatwala’. At the launch of the song, looking pretty in a gold dress, Sonakshi divulged some secrets about the making of the song and her look in the number.
Apparently, Sonakshi’s look is inspired from yesteryear actresses like Parveen Babi and Sridevi.
Said Sonakshi: “The first outfit has been taken from what Parveen Babi wore in ‘Shaan’, but we have changed it a bit. The next one is from Sridevi’s look in her film ‘Chaalbaaz’.”
Director Sajid Khan was more than grateful to her for agreeing to do the song. So much so that he revealed she was his “first and last choice for the song”. “Sonakshi was my first and last choice for the song. I had decided that if she doesn’t say yes, I’ll drop the song,” said Sajid Khan.
Also present at the song launch were Bollywood filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani, Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO, UTV Motion Pictures, playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan and music director Sachin-Jigar. Hero and heroine of ‘Himmatwala’ i.e. Ajay Devgn and Tamannah were sadly missing from the event. ‘Himmatwala’ hits theatres on 29 March 2013.
