The leaked trailer of Sunny Deol’s film Mohalla Assi has become the talk of the town due to its abusive dialogues in the trailer. Sunny Deol and Sakshi Tanwar starrer film has been making headlines because of its offensive content, which is believed to hurt religious sentiments too.
However, people got aggressive over few scenes where the character portraying Lord Shiva is seen abusing in the trailer which is not really acceptable by the people and so the movie has been dragged to the court. Earlier a complaint was filed by Sarvajan Jagruti Sanstha citing that the footage portrays Varanasi in a bad light and moreover it also disturbs the moral ethics.
The New Delhi court on Monday extended till August 25 the stay on the release of film “Mohalla Assi” across the country due to its offensive content and scenes. Civil judge Kishore Kumar has extended the stay on the film’s release and sought response of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on the plea and petition filed by Delhi resident Gulshan Kumar.

According to the reports, Gulshan Kumar’s counsel Sachin Mishra has put his point citing that the character of Lord Shiva played by Sunny Deol is portrayed in bad light. It depicts abusive language and scenes.
The trailer has resulted into protests in Varanasi. The state of Uttar Pradesh is showing more reactions than any other state as the movie is based on the holy city of Varanasi.
The film which was to release on July 3, was put into legal trouble. Also the court has restrained movie’s director Chandraprakas Dwivedi and producer to release the film. On June 30, the film’s release was halted throughout the country by the court citing it has hurt religious sentiments and that it should not be released till allegedly offending scenes and dialogues are removed.
Reportedly, unless and until the abusive and filthy languages used in the movie are not removed, the film will not hit screens, said by the court.
The Court is reluctant to give the green flag to ‘Mohalla Assi’. This is not the first time we see the courts being hesitant to release a movie.
