After a record shattering opening on Day 1 with Thugs of Hindostan minting more than 50 crores at the box office, the film was expected to witness a healthy drop on Day 2.
Following the trade predictions, the film continues to hold strong on day 2 i.e Friday. Early box office trends suggest Thugs of Hindostan is witnessing a trend stronger to Sanju.
In today’s day, word of mouth plays an important role for any film’s success. Given the fact that Thugs of Hindostan have been bashed by the critics, audience went ahead to give this film a record opening.
Social media also witnessed a reverse sentiment on Friday evening, with Netizens trending #WeLikeTOH. The trend was in support of the film and its humongous box office pull.
Opening to audience’s preference, the film did extremely well at the box office on day 1. The advance booking also came into play and huge chunk of spot bookings benefitted it.
The previous record was 40.35 crores of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo if we count outright Hindi films only and 41 crores net if we include box office legend Baahubali – The Conclusion.
Thugs of Hindostan is also the highest single day in history as it beats the Sunday numbers of Sanju.
The film has slayed in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar circuits with multiplexes collecting earth-shattering numbers and single screens running house full across both circuits.
