But the fact that casting couch happens at various levels has always been an unknown truth, as hardly anyone opens up with their casting experiences. The truth is usually suffocated under the sheets. In one of the recent interview with NDTV, Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh opened up on the issue that the casting couch indeed exists and that it is a very real thing as he had experienced it first hand.

During a candid interview with NDTV, Ranveer said “There was this very sleazy gentleman in the northern suburbs. He called me over to his house in Andheri. It was about 8pm. I made a very impressive portfolio because being an AD(Assistant director) I used to know the fate of those portfolios. So, I knew when I make mine they (casting agents) have to open it. This guy didn’t look at it. I was like this is a first. But he kept it aside, and later I got to know what he was interested in. He said you have to be smart, sexy, take, touch. I was in complete shock. Then, he has the gall to try and negotiate with me. He says we won’t do it just let me touch it. He says I’ll only see it then. I was like NO. The person was completely heartbroken when he left, like a jilted lover usually reacts.”

This confession by Ranveer has once again brought the spotlight on casting couch and that not only women but even men are victims of the same.
