MUMBAI: Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming release, ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, may not see the light of day in Pakistan.

If sources are to be believed, Yash Chopra’s last directorial venture before his untimely demise, ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, will not see a release in our neighbouring country, Pakistan.

A source close to the film has revealed that the reason for this ban is because Shah Rukh Khan plays an Indian army officer, Samar, and the film also has sensitive scenes featuring a Kashmir operation by the Indian army.

The trailer of the film has stopped airing on several Pakistani news and entertainment channels.

Zee News reported that the film has been presented to the Pakistan censor board. Apparently, the Board was offended and did not approve of the fact that Shah Rukh Khan’s character plays a member of an Indian Army bomb disposal squad stationed in Kashmir.

However, Pakistan’s central censor board has not yet released an official announcement to this effect.

Bollywood films have always been a rage in the country, and the people are extremely fond of our films. Shah Rukh Khan has one of the largest fan followings there, amongst the top stars of Bollywood.

Previously too, films like ‘Agent Vinod’ and ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ were not permitted a release in Pakistan. This is due to the fact that in both films, Saif and Salman respectively, played the role of RAW agents. In ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, Katrina Kaif’s character was that of an ISI agent.

It remains to be seen whether die-hard Bollywood film fans across the border will be able to see this film in theaters.

‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ stars Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.

The film is directed by late Yash Chopra and is produced by YRF, and releases on 13th November, 2012.
