Rumours have been doing rounds from quiet some time that the blockbuster director, Rohit Shetty is planning to make a remake of 1958 classic comedy Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi which starred Ashok Kumar and Madhubala. It is now reported that the director has roped in Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the remake and the actors will reprise the role of Ashok Kumar and Madhubala respectively.
Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan sparkled celluloid with their flawless on-screen chemistry in films like Mohabbatein and Devdas, and it seems ‘The Baadshah and The Beauty’ will yet again effervescently light the silver screen with their alluring romance.
The duo stopped working together after Aishwarya’s exit from the sets of Chalte Chalte. However, if the differences between the two are settled, then it will be a treat for the audience to see them recreate the magic.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, during a press conference on her birthday said, “Besides Jazbaa, there are other scripts I have given the go ahead. I was wondering whether I should announce them today, but with due respect to the director and producer, I shall do it with them in future. Other announcements I will do it with the directors I am going to work with. But it’s an exciting and busy year ahead” and since then reports had that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been approached by Karan Johar for his next directorial venture. And well, the reports turned out to be true with Dharma Productions officially announcing their film ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor, yesterday. And now Rohit Shetty’s Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi remake may be yet another rumour that might turn out to be true in coming days.
Reportedly, the role was first offered to Kajol, as Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol make the best on-screen Jodi, but things did not work out.
