Akshay Kumar starrer Airlift and Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 starring Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani, Bigg Boss 9 contestants Mandana Karimi and Gizele Thakral have completed its second day run at the box office.
On it’s opening day both the films had a neck to neck competition of 30-35 % occupancy. Airlift had a decent collection of Rs 11 crore net approx (Rs 110 million net approx) on it’s first day. While Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 collected Rs 6.75 crore nett apprx (Rs 67 million net approx).
On day two, Akshay Kumar starrer film showed good growth on Saturday having collected Rs 14.50 crore net (Rs 145 million net approx). The two day business is Rs 25.50 crore net (Rs 255 crore net approx.) and should go over Rs 40 crore net (Rs 400 million net approx) depending on the Sunday growth. The film had good collections at multiplexes in most of the major cities. Multiplexes and single screens is smaller cities are below the mark due to low start.
While Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 on the other hand dropped on day two with around Rs 5.25 crore net (Rs 52 million net approx.) The drop had started on day one so these figures were quite expected. The two day business is Rs 12 crore net approx (120 million net approx) and should not go over Rs 18 crore net (Rs 180 million net approx) on Sunday.
It is very clear that Akshay Kumar starrer Airlift has emerged as a winner in two days collection leading with Rs 13.5 crore net approx. (Rs 135 million net approx.)
Directed by Umesh Ghadge, ‘Kyaa Kool Hai Hum 3’ is the third installment in the popular franchise.
Airlift’ is an edge-of-the-seat thriller based on a real incident, which occurred in Kuwait in the 1990s, during the time of Gulf War. An Indian businessman, Ranjit Katyal, helped in evacuating 1,70,000 Indians, safely, back to their home country at the time of Iraq-Kuwait war.
