MUMBAI: Dharma Productions’ ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, directed by Ayan Mukherjee and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin, has created box office history in its first six days!
‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, which released last Friday, on 31 May, 2013, has opened to a fabulous response at the box office. As reported, the film has been doing roaring business all over the country, on the weekend as well as Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Wednesday, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ garnered a collection in the range of Rs 106.8 million (Rs 10.68 crore) net, which is an unprecedented weekday figure.
What is also interesting to note is that the collections of ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ on Wednesday even beat the first Wednesday figures of box office messiah Salman Khan’s blockbuster films ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, and ‘Dabangg 2’!!
‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ has had a great run at the box office, with the first five day collections as follows-
Friday– Rs 197.5 million (Rs 19.75 crore) net, which was just a shade lighter than Salman Khan’s fearless opening for ‘Dabangg 2’, which generated approximately Rs 210 million (Rs 21 crore) net on its opening day, on 21 December, 2012.
Saturday– Rs 202.3 million (Rs 20.23 crore).
Sunday– ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ saw its busiest day on Sunday, with collections at approximately Rs 224.8 million (Rs 22.48 crore) net.
Monday– Rs 129 million (Rs 12.9 crore) net, a whopping figure for a weekday, considering it was a non-holiday weekend.
Tuesday– Rs 118.3 million (Rs 11.83 crore) net.
The six day total for ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ is in the range of Rs 978.7 million (Rs 97.87 crore) net, just shy of the Rs 100 crore mark.
Naturally, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ will touch Rs 100 crore within its first week.
