Box Office: Golmaal 3 leads opening weekend collections

MUMBAI: Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal 3 has done net business of approximately Rs 320 million (Rs 32 crore) in its opening weekend in India.

On the other hand, Action Replayy’s net collections for the weekend stood at approximately Rs 167.50 million (Rs 16.75 crore).

As was reported earlier by Businessofcinema.com, the net collections of both the movies over the weekend in India were as follows:

Friday

Golmaal 3: Rs 80 million (Rs 8 crore)

Action Replayy: Rs 27.50 million (Rs 2.75 crore)

Saturday

Golmaal 3: Rs 130 million (Rs 13 crore)

Action Replayy: Rs 80 million (Rs 8 crore).

Sunday

Golmaal 3: Rs 110 million (Rs 11 crore)

Action Replayy: Rs 60 million (Rs 6 crore)

According to Eros International, Golmaal 3 collections in the overseas stood at Rs 100 million (Rs 10 crores) in its opening weekend.

Eros International Media senior vice president – distribution Nandu Ahuja said, “It’s a very proud moment for us as Golmaal 3 opened at 80 – 90 per cent occupancy across the country. Moreover, the long Diwali weekend helped draw in large footfalls in theatres. The film is running packed shows all over India and the current figures strongly indicate that the film is a blockbuster in the making. The feedback received from our distributors and audiences also suggest that there is tremendous repeat viewing factor which will only enhance the performance of the film in the coming weeks.”

The movie has been well received at the box office in the US, the UK, Australia and Middle East.
