Following the initial curiosity generated in the unique promotional tactic with audio clip where Arun Gawli himself was narrating his story, the makers of Daddy have finally released the official teaser of the Arjun Rampal starrer Daddy where is playing the central character of Mumbai’s gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli.
The attention-grabbing teaser of the film shows Arjun Rampal sitting inside a prison cell dressed in a white kurta pyjama and his trademark Gandhi cap, while the police officer poses some tough questions at him.
Not perturbed by the brash and condescending tone of the officer, on-screen Gawli, with his head down, answers the questions with all his arrogance and style. It’s only when he is asked his name, he lifts his head up, makes a direct eye contact and utters, “Arun Gulab Gawli.”
This is the moment, a chill run downs your spine and you feel like it is Arun Gawli and not Arjun. The intense eyes and the uncanny resemblance of Arjun to Gawli is turning out to be the highlight of the teaser.
The other running shots include Gawli being clicked by lots of photographers, greeting a sea of fans with folded hands and sitting in the prayer room performing aarti. And the noticeable last shot where a carefree Gawli is smoking a cigar, exhaling all his worries out.
The film is directed by Ashim Ahluwalia and presented by Eros International, Kundalini Entertainment and Karta Entertainment.
