BOX OFFICE: ‘Inkaar’ Does Not Sustain Its First Weekend

MUMBAI: Sudhir Mishra’s ‘Inkaar’ which stars Arjun Rampal and Chitrangada Singh in leading roles; the ambitious tale of power play and sexual exploitation at the workplace has maintained its sluggish pace over the first weekend

We had reported the first day business SEE REPORT which wasin the range of a dismal Rs 16.3 million (1.63 crore) net.

The film didn’t fare any better over the weekend either, with Saturday seeing a business of Rs 24 million (2.4 crore) net, at the ticket windows. Sunday proved to be slightly better for the Sudhir Mishra directorial, with ‘Inkaar’ raking in a marginally higher Rs 31 million (3.1. crore) net. Which brings the three day total of the film upto a very poor Rs 71.3 million (7.13 crore) net.

The film did its most brisk business in the circles of Mumbai and Delhi, especially in multiplexes. The poor reviews have clearly provided no impetus, and the several regional as well as international films have eaten into the business of ‘Inkaar’.

With another multi-starrer in the form of Abbas-Mustan’s ‘Race 2’ releasing this Friday, on the Republic Day weekend, the future for ‘Inkaar’ certainly looks bleak. Only time will tell just how much (or how little) the film will end up earning in its lifetime.
