The Kabir Khan directorial movie ‘Phantom’ has completed its first week on the box office. With an impressive star cast and a credible director, the movie gained much limelight even before its release. Adding to its advantage is its hard hitting story line based on the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
The Katrina Kaif and Saif Ali Khan starrer film ‘Phantom’ has been garnering good reviews. The film in its first weekend managed to collect Rs. 33 crore (330 million) net approx. ‘Phantom’ opened to a steady start at the box office and the holiday due to the occasion of Rakshabandhan became an added advantage for its collection. With a slow start on Friday, ‘Phantom’ geared up in its collection on Saturday and Sunday.

Coming to the weekday collections, ‘Phantom’ in its five day collections managed to collect Rs. 40.75 crore (407.5 million) net approx. Compared to weekends, the movie ‘Phantom’ saw a steep drop on the weekdays and the collections were gradual. Kabir Khan’s ‘Phantom’ which is based on the Mumbai terror attacks surprisingly has shown a dip in the collections in Mumbai itself on weekdays.
The first week collection of the movie ‘Phantom’ amounts to Rs. 47 crore (470 million) net approx. With the considerate collections of the first week ‘Phantom’ has now bagged the title of being the 8th highest first week collector of the year.
‘Phantom’ is still witnessing considerable amounts of audience in the theaters. The film is much in limelight not only because of its star cast and director but also because of the controversies surrounding it. With ‘Welcome Back’ in the theaters now, the film ‘Phantom’ might experience a pinch in its collections.
