MUMBAI: The four Hindi movie released this past weekend failed to set the cash registers ringing at the box office.
The movies released were John Abraham’s Jhootha Hi Sahi, Mallika Sherawat’s Hisss, Vivek Oberoi’s Rakhta Charitra and Manoj Bajpai’s Dus Tola. Of these, Jhootha Hi Sahi fared better than its peers with net collections of approximately Rs 60 million (Rs 6 crore) in the opening weekend. On its opening Friday, the movie’s net collections stood at a mere Rs 17.50 million (Rs 1.75 crore).
On the other hand, Rakht Charitra, which did net business of Rs 10 million (Rs 1 crore) on Friday, saw opening weekend net collections of approximately Rs 32.50 million (Rs 3.25 crore).
The much-hyped Hisss performed poorly at the box office too with opening weekend net collections of approximately Rs 30 million (Rs 3 crore).
With these movies performing badly, the film industry’s eyes are now on the Diwali releases since there are no big releases lined up this week. The Diwali weekend will see the Akshay Kumar – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Action Replayy releasing with the Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade’s comic caper Golmaal 3.
