MUMBAI: As we had reported, ‘Satyagraha’, produced by UTV Motion Pictures, directed by Prakash Jha and starring Amitabh Bachchan, Arjun Rampal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ajay Devgn, Manoj Bajpayee and Amrita Rao, has been seeing both ups and downs in its box office journey, right from release day.
‘Satyagraha’ began on fairly good note on day 1, garnering approximately Rs 102.3 million (Rs 10.23 crore) net. Day 2, Saturday saw collections surge to the tune of approximately Rs 128.8 million (Rs 12.88 crore) net, while Day 3 Sunday’s collections stood in the range of Rs 140 million (Rs 14 crore) net.
By the end of the first weekend, ‘Satyagraha’ had amassed about Rs 371.1 million (Rs 37.11 crore) net.
But with the arrival of Monday, things began to look downhill for the multi-starrer political-themed film. Day 4’s figures stood at approximately Rs 46.1 million (Rs 4.61 crore) net. Tuesday saw an even greater fall, with business plummeting to around Rs 39.3 million (Rs 3.93 crore) net.
The 5 day was in the range of Rs 456.5 million (Rs 45.64 crore) net.
Since then, things have begun to slip away further. Inclusive of Wednesday and Thursday’s collections, the first week of the film stands in the range of Rs 508.1 million (Rs 50.81 crore) net.
