MUMBAI: Director Rajkumar Santoshi, whose ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’ apparently has many references to his cult classic ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, must have expected the Shahid Kapoor starrer to do equally well at the ticketing windows.
However, going by the first weekend collections, ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’ has taken a slow opening.
Starring Shahid and Ileana D’Cruz, this comedy film managed to garner approximately Rs 54.5 million (Rs 5.45 crore) net on opening day. Saturday saw a minor upsurge with collections in the range of Rs 67.8 million (Rs 6.78 crore) net. Sunday too, the growth was not anything exciting with collections of about Rs 76.5 million (Rs 7.65 crore) net.
The three day total of the film stands at a highly average Rs 198.8 million (Rs 19.88 crore) net approximately.
