MUMBAI: Dharma Productions’ We Are Family, which was released by UTV Motion Pictures, saw a decent run in its opening weekend at the Indian box office. The movie has collected net revenue of approximately Rs 142 million (Rs 14.20 crore) in its opening weekend.
As was reported earlier by Businessofcinema.com, We Are Family opened at select multiplexes on Thursday (2 September) and saw net collections of Rs 27 million (Rs 2.70 crore) at the box office. On Friday, when the movie had a full-fledge release, net collections stood at Rs 30 million (Rs 3 crore), whereas Saturday and Sunday saw net collections of Rs 40 million (Rs 4 crore) and Rs 45 million (Rs 4.50 crore) respectively.
The movie is directed by debutant Siddharth Malhotra and stars Kajol, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal. It is the official remake of Sony Pictures’ Hollywood flick Stepmom.
