MUMBAI: With Hollywood biopic ‘Jobs’, based on the life of Apple founder Steve Jobs nearing release, anticipation is at an understandable high.
Directed by Joshua Michael Stern, and starring Hollywood heartthrob Ashton Kutcher as the tech mogul, along with Dermot Mulroney, Josh Gad and Lesley Ann Warren, ‘Jobs’ is all set to hit theatres on 23 August, 2013; a week after the initial release of 16 August in the U.S.
Mr. Girish Wankhede, Marketing Head, PVR Pictures was understandably ebullient about the release. We spoke with him exclusively to get a sense of the expectations from the film, and also to find out the breadth of the release across India.
Mr. Wankhede said: “We are very excited about the film, and the interesting part is we ourselves (PVR Pictures) are releasing the film. There is quite a steady buzz for the Ashton Kutcher starrer, and we anticipate that the film will do huge business just like a lot of other Hollywood films which released this year.”
He even touched upon how biopics are the current flavour of the season. “With the success of biopics like ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, Indian audiences seem to have awoken to biopics in a big way. Since ‘Jobs’ is based on the life of an enigmatic personality like Steve Jobs, the expectations from this film are quite high.”
“We are releasing ‘Jobs’ in around 60-70 screens, in English. There will be no dubbed versions of the film,” added Mr. Wankhede.
