With the war in the music industry picking up pace Subhash Chandra Goel’s Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) new music label Zee Music Company, has now teamed up with Sony Music Entertainment in an exclusive world wide digital deal which excludes the YouTube rights to take on rival Bhushan Kumar‘s T-Series, which is currently been ruling the Indian Music space for years now.
The disagreement between the two parties started in the year 2006 when Music Company Super Cassettes Ind. Ltd., had boycotted the music channel ETC Networks Ltd., by withdrawing all paid promos of films and non-films music and also supply of music videos and audio – visuals of film songs.
In the year 2009, Subhash Chandra Goel, Owned Zee Telefilms hit back at T-Series over non-payment of dues and alleged forging of agreement papers. Zee Telefilms then had registered an FIR with Mumbai’s Economic Offence Wing (EOW) against The Chairman And Managing Director, T-Series, Mr. Bhushan Kumar, for cheating and forgery.
Armed with a reason to beat T-Series and a large media artillery along with money chest, ZMC will definitely be a player to look up for finally competing with T-Series, while other corporate giants like Sa Re Gam Ma and Sony Music along with Reliance Big Music failed to create any dent in T-Series market share.
ZEML has also plans to partner with other big players like Dharma Productions, Excel Entertainment and other top studios along with already having acquired Akshay Kumar starrer Holiday and Fox Star Studios slate of Hindi Films including Saif Ali Khan and Riteish Deshmukh starrer Humshakals, Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif starrer Bang Bang and Bombay Velvet starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.
Punit Goenka, Managing Director And Chief Executive Office, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited said, “Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited has always been a leader in the media and entertainment space, be it films or television, and branching out into the music label space gives us an opportunity to widen our business. “
