MACAU: An award function can’t go wrong when they select Shah Rukh Khan as the host of their function. Known for his sense of humour, innate charm and wit, he has always been the spotlight at any award functions he hosts.
At the 14th edition of the IIFA Awards this year, Shah Rukh Khan appeared with a sling on his right arm, but that did not dampen his spirits as he went about providing full-on entertainment. The star looked dapper in a suit with a bowtie, which perhaps let him get away with singing to Parineeti Chopra while on one knee. He also flirted with her, stealing the girl’s heart.
Shahid Kapoor – no stranger to attention from women – provided a good foil to Shah Rukh Khan. But he couldn’t help stepping aside when the King Khan did his trademark ‘spread-arms’ pose; albeit with just one arm. The King of Romance was in full flow.
The actor also heartily posed for photographs on the red carpet, as well as with friends. He’s always been good buddies with Madhuri Dixit-Nene, with whom he’s acted in films like ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ and ‘Devdas’. He posed for a snap with Madhuri, Anubhav Sinha and Mushtaq Sheikh. How lovely would it be to see the lead pair in a film again. Bollywood directors, are you listening?
We also wonder whether Hollywood action hero Jean-Claude Van Damme is listening. The actor made waves when he attended the IIFA Awards for the third year. The ‘Expendables’ star was scouting for talent for his next film ‘Luxury Meets Justice’, and also presented an award. Moreover, not even Jean-Claude Van Damme could be saved from King Khan’s charms. The two actors were spotted posing for the shutterbugs together. Fans hope that this is more than just a photograph, and maybe they’ll get to see Shah Rukh Khan make his international debut soon.
The 14th edition of the IIFA Awards was surely a huge hit. Shah Rukh Khan’s pairing with Shahid Kapoor – for the second time – was a hit too. But fans of his hope that he could get together with Saif Ali Khan. Or maybe King Khan hosting an awards ceremony alone? That would be a treat.
