Tom Cruise was born as Thomas Cruise Mapother IV to Mary Lee and Thomas Cruise Mapother III. His mother was a special education teacher at that time and his father was an electrical engineer. Cruise has three sisters. Growing up, Tom saw some rough times. His childhood basically wasn’t all that happy and shiny. He grew up in a near poverty condition. Having an abusive dominating father, Tom was often beaten by his father. In an interview, Tom described his father as “a merchant of chaos”.

Tom Cruise and his family spent much of their days during his childhood in Canada. Tom attended Robert Hopkins Public School. Tom was in his grade 4 when he was introduced to drama. In the spring of Tom Cruise’s grade six, Tom’s mother left his father and moved back to United States. Later, Tom’s father died of cancer.

While attending Franciscam Seminary in Cincinnati on a church scholarship, Tom Cruise wanted to become a Catholic priest. In his 14 years, Tom Cruise went to 15 schools. While growing up, Tom Cruise spent most of his time adjusting to the sudden changes that took place in his life. It was a tough journey for the actor.
