MUMBAI: Shane Black’ ‘Iron Man 3’, produced by Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios has astounded one and all by becoming a thumping success at the end of its first week at the box office. The film stars Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley.
As reported, the film opened in India with very impressive figures, with Day 1 collections in the range of Rs 77.3 million (Rs 7.73 crore) net. ‘Iron Man 3’ is the third and final installment in the Iron Man series, and is based on the uber successful ‘Iron Man’ comic books by Marvel Comics.
Day 2 and Day 3 saw the film’s business increase, with collections of about Rs 80 million (8 crore) net and Rs 83.5 million (Rs 8.35 crore) net, both astounding figures. The first weekend total of the film was approximately Rs 240.8 million (Rs 24.08 crore) net.
At the end of week one, ‘Iron Man 3’ stands in the staggering range of Rs 370 million (Rs 37 crore) net.
Like on opening weekend, during the week also the film did better business in multiplexes across metros like Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi.
