Makers of the upcoming film Mad Max: Fury Road have recently released a power-packed short film featuring the main characters and their story in the film. The video stars director George Miller talking about the lead character Max and his story building and actors Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron discussing their respective roles.
Mad Max: Fury Road is an apocalyptic story based in the stark desert landscape where humanity has ceased to exist and the people have gone crazy due to its aftereffects. Fighting for basic necessities of life, the desert’s rule is simple: survival of the fittest. But like always there’s good, bad and the ugly.
Main character Max is a man of action who believes in restoring peace but is haunted by the ghosts of the people he couldn’t save during the apocalypse. Actor Tom Hardy states, “The best thing about Max is he’s not just a quintessential hero cause he has a lot of baggage and he has let down a lot of people he couldn’t save and they’ve haunted him. Max starts out as a beast, he can’t talk, doesn’t know his own voice apart from the voices in his head. But on escaping his situation, Max meets Furiosa.”
The film shows Furiosa played by actress Charlize Theron as a woman of action and someone who believes that there’s a chance of survival if they can make it across the desert and get back to her homeland. In the process she along with Max save a lot of young girls who have been captured by a cruel man and treated like a property.
Actress Charlize states, “These are two people who know only how to take care of themselves. All they know is that nothing and no one can be trusted.” The film thus shows the cruel side of human nature and how two beings try and find the instinct of trust and help in a chaotic world. The film is set to release on May 15 in India along with films Pitch Perfect 2, Bombay Velvet and Ishqedarriyaan.
