MUMBAI: High voltage action film ‘The Expendables 2’ will see a pan-India release on 24th August 2012. The film in which, Simon West replaces Stallone in donning the director’s hat this time around will be shown across more than 800 screens.
Simon West’s is famous for his previous high octane action projects like ‘Con-Air’, ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’ and ‘The Mechanic’. Besides Simon, another big addition to the franchise is Jean Claude Van Damme who will be playing the role of the main villain as a terrorist with nefarious plans for the expendables.
‘The Expendables 2’ is a re-union of the old-school mercenaries, where the team is compelled to seek revenge when one of their brothers is viciously killed. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time. The film was shot in Bulgaria during late 2011 and completed principal photography in Hong Kong and New Orleans in early 2012.
“The Expendables 2 comes at a time when the year so far has been fantastic for the Hollywood releases in India. Some of the movies have grossed more than the Bollywood movies released in the same week,” said Director, Multivision Multimedia, Amit Jethani
The film stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Jean Claude Van Damme, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Liam Hemsworth, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
