Rajinikanth starrer, 2.0, a sequel to Enthiran (Robo in Telugu and Robot in Hindi), was shot initially in Tamil is going to be dubbed in Telugu and Hindi. The trailer launch was a much discussed event and gave a glimpse into the amazing feature film.
Lyca Productions, the makers of the project, have confirmed that it will be made on a whopping budget of Rs 350 crore. This makes it India’s biggest motion picture in terms of budget and, hence, stepping over SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali in the process.
Speaking at a press conference, a representative from Lyca said that they are confident of recovering the investment, thanks to the grouping of Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, who was brought into the project in place of Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Schwarzenegger, according to the representative, was really looking forward to taking up the project as he had watched Enthiran and really liked it. However, due to some contractual reasons he couldn’t take it on. The reason conjectured for this was a very high remuneration of INR 120 crore demanded by Schwarzenegger.
Consequently, the makers roped in Akshay, who is also going to work with the makers in the Hindi remake of AR Murugadoss-directed Tamil blockbuster Kaththi, which has been titled Ikka.
2.0, directed by Shankar, will have Amy Jackson as the only female lead. AR Rahman is the music composer and the visual effects work will be taken care by Srinivas Mohan, who has earlier worked in Baahubali.
