MUMBAI: Taylor Swift has been awarded the prestigious ‘Pinnacle Award’ by the 47th Country Music Association in a ceremony held in Nashville on November 6, 2013.
This award has once been given to Country legend Garth Brooks way back in the year 2005. The ‘Pinnacle Award’ is handed over to an artist who has taken the music genre to a worldwide audience.
Taylor Swift, 23, who was nominated in six categories, was surprised on stage by six country stars with whom she had opened for as a teenager.
Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Keith Urban, George Strait, Brad Paisley and the members of Rascal Flatts all joined her, before a video featuring messages from stars including Justin Timberlake, Julia Roberts, Carly Simon and Mick Jagger.
George Strait, won the ‘Entertainer Of The Year’. He has in total won seventeen CMA Awards and took the ‘Entertainer Of The Year’ Award third time in his carrier. Strait is currently on his Cowboy Rides Away farewell tour after announcing his retirement from touring.
Blake Shelton and wife Miranda Lambert were adjudged ‘Best Male’ and ‘Best Female’ Singers. This is the forth time that both have been conferred this award. Blake Shelton also won album of the year for ‘Based On A True Story’.
Kacey Musgraves was awarded the ‘Artist Of The Year’ while Florida Georgia Line won the ‘Single Of The Year’ for their crossover hit ‘Cruise’.
Kenny Rogers won the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’.
This three and a half hour star studded ceremony was hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley for the sixth year running.
