MUMBAI: Daniel Barnz has signed on to direct Beastly for CBS Films. The announcement was made by CBS Films president and CEO Amy Baer.
Barnz also penned the screenplay for Beastly, which is based on the novel of the same name by Alex Flinn. Susan Cartsonis is producing the film through her company, Storefront Films. Roz Weisberg is co-producer.
Barnz wrote and directed Phoebe in Wonderland, which premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for the Grand Jury prize.
"Daniel’s fresh vision makes him one of the most exciting directors of his generation. We are thrilled to partner with him as he brings his unique voice to arguably the most universally resonant myth in storytelling," says Baer.
