Harry Potter finale shatters weekend box office records

MUMBAI: The final installment of Warner Bros Pictures’ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 has broken box office records worldwide in the opening weekend.

The movie has collected a whopping $168.55 million in North America in its opening weekend breaking The Dark Knight’s previous record of $158.4 million. Harry Potter finale also saw the biggest international debut grossing $307 million internationally across 59 countries.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, which released in November last year saw opening weekend collections of $125 million.

The movie collected $36.6 million in the UK, $21.5 million in Japan, $23.9 million in France and approximately Rs 150 million in India. The movie will open in China next month on 4 August.
